Do I need to be a member to shop? Yes, Goodhaven is members-only. Registration is free and takes under 2 minutes.
How much does it cost to join? Joining is completely free. No membership fees or hidden charges. You only pay for books you purchase.
Where do you source your books? Most of our books come from member trade-ins. When you trade books to us, they become available for other members to purchase. We also source quality used books from other channels and save remainders from landfills. This circular model keeps quality books flowing between readers instead of sitting on shelves or heading to waste.
Points System
How do points work?
- 100 points = $5 purchasing power
- Earn points by trading books to us
- Use points for discounts on future purchases
- Points expire after 24 months
- Maximum account balance: 2,500 points
How do I use my points? Trade points for discount codes in your account dashboard:
- 300 points = $15 off ($40+ minimum)
- 500 points = $25 off ($55+ minimum)
- 800 points = $40 off ($75+ minimum)
Process: Trade points → Get discount code → Apply code at checkout → Pay remaining cash amount.
Trading In Books
What books do you accept? We accept quality books in good condition:
- YES: Fiction, non-fiction, hardcovers, paperbacks, bestsellers
- NO: Damaged books, textbooks, books with excessive writing/highlighting
What's the minimum for trade-ins? 5 books minimum per shipment. This ensures you earn meaningful points while keeping shipping efficient.
How do I trade in books?
- Submit titles through our online form
- Get approval within 24-48 hours
- Receive free prepaid shipping label
- Ship your books
- Points credited within 24-72 hours of receipt
What happens if some books are rejected? Rejected books are donated to local literacy programs. You still earn points for accepted books. No return shipping charges.
Shopping & Ordering
What's the minimum order amount?
- Cash (no points) purchases: $30 minimum cart
- When using point discount codes: $25 minimum spend
Note: Points must be converted to discount codes before checkout.
Do you charge for shipping?
- Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, Northern CA): Free shipping
- Rest of United States: $5 flat rate
How long does shipping take?
- Pacific Northwest: 1-2 business days
- Rest of US: 3-5 business days

How do gift packages work?
For non-members:
- Choose book bundle
- Includes gift membership ($25) for 400 bonus points
For members:
- Use your points for gift discounts
- Recipient gets book bundle plus bonus points
Read, Keep or Trade Guarantee: Recipients can read the books then keep or trade them to us for points toward their next reading adventure. Your gift keeps giving long after the last page.

How do you grade book condition?
- Very Good: Minor shelf wear, clean pages, solid binding
- Like New: no markings
How are books priced? Books are priced consistently below retail - you save more than at other book retailers.
Reusable Box Program

Do I have to use your box for trade-ins? No, but we encourage it! Reusing boxes supports our sustainability mission and helps keep books circulating.
